Welcome back to school, and with another school year means another Robotics Build Season!
This kicks off right away with FIRST Tech Challenge. Parents meeting is Monday, August 28th from 7 to 8 pm in the East Kentwood Freshman Campus Cafeteria. Season kicks off September 9th at GVSU’s Kennedy Hall of Engineering.
FIRST Robotics Competition kicks off the fall season with the Parent’s meeting on September 14th from 7 to 8pm also in the East Kentwood Freshman Campus Cafeteria. The build season kicks off in January.
If you’re interested in being a part of either robotics program, please fill out this form.
Our next competition we’ll be hosting at our very own East Kentwood High School in the Fieldhouse. This will be our third year hosting the FRC Competition, so we’re looking forward to it.
This is a Week Five Event, and FIRST in Michigan’s event info page can be found here.
We can always use volunteers to make this a smooth running event, so if you have some time, please sign up with FIRST on their VIMS system.
Event specific information can be found here.
Please make the time to come and cheer Red Storm onto a great showing!
Welcome to the Red Storm Robotics website! We are Team 3875, a FIRST® robotics team based in Kentwood, Michigan, made up of students attending East Kentwood High School. To learn more, please visit the “About Us” page, and be sure to explore everything else the site has to offer. If you have any feedback for us, website-related or otherwise, you can get a hold of us via the “Contact Us” page.
FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was established in 1989, with the competitive season initiating in 1992. FIRST uses robotics as a “varsity sport for the mind” to engage students in science and technology.
In December 2010, FIRST® of Michigan asked East Kentwood High School (EKHS) and GE Aviation Systems to establish a FIRST Robotics team. The Red Storm Robotics Team 3875 was formed in January 2011 at EKHS, and immediately began the 2011 FIRST Robotics build season. Within three months of operation, the team was given the Highest Rookie Seed award at the West Michigan competition. We have continued our success in the 2012-2016 seasons. Red Storm is currently looking forward to the 2017 competition season, and hosting the Kentwood district FRC competition at our school.
Kentwood’s elementary and middle schools are home to four FIRST® LEGO League (FLL) teams and three FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) teams. Since 2012, the Red Storm Robotics team has sponsored the middle school FTC Qualifier competition for West Michigan in December, where over 32 middle school FTC teams compete.
